Flying United is Fun!

…but being surrounded by sorority girls while on this plane is not. Kind of weird, actually. The flight attendant saw the girl beside me wearing greek letters. She goes, “Oh, you’re in blablabla, cool!” Then turns to me and says, “What sorority are you in?” I was like… wtf, are you serious? None. Sorry, I’m not about to throw away my money on a big pretty house to live in, so I can party and deal with drama. Naw, not for me.

hak54.jpgI had a great Spring Break. Full of technolust. Fer realz.

I’m willing to say that Williamsburg Virginia is worth a visit. It’s beautiful. Although, dealing with all the other tourists in kinda a pain in the ass, but what can you do? There is so much colonial history, so many things to experience… Just go there :)

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 just came out on DVD, so Darren got a pre-ordered copy. We basically played couch potato and watched almost the entire season, just in the nick of time for Season 4. It’s been a while since I’ve obsessed about a tv show…

Rock Band is AWESOME! Just puttin’ that out there.

Much Hak.5 tech lovin went on this week as well. J!NX had a $5 off sale for 3 days, so not only did Ihak52.jpg hak51.jpg spend some cash, but DK pimped his t-shirt on teh site as well. J!NX also started a EXP and Gold membership thing. It’s quite fun! Yay for RPG’s! The taping of episode 3×09 occurred yesterday, all day. We ustreamed all day for viewers. I learned how to use the broadcasting box thing… as well as how filming generally goes for each episode. All in all, the best spring break I’ve ever had!

A Toast…

So my Spring Break just started, and it started out on a glorious note. My roommates sister got hitched yesterday, and I have to say it was a wonderful experience. Not only are his sister’s the most friendly hospitable people EVAR, but they also really know how to have a good time.

We drove 6 hours to Dallas, Texas, where the whole family was meeting up.  I have to say, I really hate Texas roads…  I missed forested hills and the like.  You can see way too much humanity from the road.  I think one of the things I like about Missouri is the fact that you can’t see a lot of the residential areas from the roads because there is so much foretst.  I like that about Virginia too…  But Texas is dry, plain, and very dusty… And they have a highway named after George W. Bush D:

The wedding was medium sized, with lots of friends and family… probably no more than 200 people. It was beautiful. Everything from Rosie’s dress to the flower arrangements… everything was perfect. This was the first wedding I have been to since I was a child, so I really enjoyed it and paid attention to all the small details… Who knows? Maybe someday I’ll be in her shoes (hahaha, waaaaaaay down the line!). The reception was so fun! The whole family was there, along with a photographer from HarttPhoto, a dj, and a man recording the entire thing to video.  I didn’t like the dj much.  He played a lot of music that’s fun and lovey dovey, but very hard to dance to.  Weddings are all together fun to be at :)  I am so happy for Rosie and I wish her all the best!  <3

  • Brawl

I thought I’d write a little opionated review of this new game, since I recently played it a few weekends ago.

Smash Brothers Brawl had a huge cult following and almost all my friends were excited about the new game for Nintendo Wii.  Darren reserved his copy and we waited in line while playing Tetris DS (and I pwned him, btw) while chilling inside the mall.  I’ve never been a big Smash Brothers gamer, but I’ve played my fair share of each of the games.

The first thing I noticed was the graphics.  The graphics kick ass, and I love the special effects whenever you use your final attack during a battle.  The characters are beautiful, and the cut scenes are made so well.  Nintendo is really starting to show off what the Wii can do as far as graphics go with this game, as well as with Mario Galaxy.

When you first play the game, I suggest playing with various controllers to figure out which one you would want to use.  I personally like the Wiimote + nunchuck, but Darren used the Classic controller.  It really just depends on your style.

There’s SO MUCH to do in this game.  When you play Brawl (playing against up to 4 people without an internet connection), you can unlock new characters and basically try out each of the available characters and maps to find your favorite.  I did not play any of the other battle modes, but I did take some time to check out the trophies, stickers, and maps you can make.  I really have no clue why there are stickers and trophies in this game other than to raise your e-peen, but  they are interesting to look at non-the-less.  There are a few minigames which are fun, but didn’t peek my interest that much.  My favorite thing to do, other than playing Brawl tourneys, was creating my own maps.  Really cool!  There’s lots of different ways you can create a map, and you can even choose your favorite music.

Apparently you can play this game online with other people, but since my Wii isn’t hooked up, I wasn’t able to do this.  O wells :P

All in all, it’s a great game and I suggest it to anyone who likes old school style battle zone type games.

  • Spring Break

Spring break begins in a few days, and this is the first one that I’ve actually taken time off work to travel.  For years and years, all I’d do is stay in town and work.  I’d take the extra time off classes to get extra hours at work.  But this year, I’m actually going sbahamas.jpgomewhere.   My roommate James’ sister is getting married to her fiance down in Texas, so I’ll be spending a few days down there.  After that, I’m flying out to Virginia to visit Darren.  I can’t wait, I’m so excited to visit my friends family, then visit my boyfriend and my soon-to-be home.  We’ll have a blast, I’m sure :)

But with all this cold weather, I really want to be on a beach, somewhere warm and toasty, sipping a frozen beverage, enjoying the ocean breeze.  Yay for vacations!

  • Caesar

bloody_maria.jpgThe second time I took a trip to Toronto, Canada, I tried this drink called a Caesar aka Bloody Caesar. It sounds so disgusting whenever you see the ingrediants, but it tastes so good and spicy. It’s a very warm beverage, and you either love it or hate it. For me, it’s my favorite drink. No one in Missouri knows what it is, because it was originally from Canada. Anywayz, I think you should try it, just once- because even though it sounds kinda gross, you may fall in love with it like I did. :)

Here is some info on Caesars<3

  • My Maps

I was introduced to the My Maps function in Google Maps last night and was quite gleeful. I know I’m totally behind the times but Mom, if you read this, check it out. I found my old houses in Indiana, where I lived when I was 6 years old. Amazing! My old friend still has her swimming pool. There are new houses popping up everywhere. I have to give props to Google Maps. It’s more reliable than Mapquest- specially if you’ve ever used mapquest for a road trip. It gets you lost, really. One time, I went on a trip with my family to NC, and my parents printed Mapquest directions. TOTALLY not reliable. And thats just one example, but I’m going on a tangent.

    Here’s my Indiana Map

And this is my FLW Map

Obviously, this is just for my fun and enjoyment. :)

If you ever wanna use the My Maps function, it’s pretty easy. Go to Google, go to Google Maps, then choose the tab on the left that says My Maps. You have to sign up (I already have a gmail account so I could skip this). Then you start making an untitled map. You can put little tabs on places on interest, then save after you are finished. But you can go back and edit, if you miss something.

Pretty sweet, eh? Definetly helps if you are planning a long road trip, like I am.

  • Ode to a Nintendo DS

    Dear DS,

nintendo_ds_lite_pink.jpegWhat would I do without you?  You give me company while between classes.  You are my companion late at night when I’m bored.  I can play as much as I want without you getting tired… Man, what a nice battery life you have.  Now that you have a lovely Mod chip that can fit 20 games at once, I feel free as a bird, able to play to my hearts consent.  And best of all, you’re pink.  Yes, pink.  Let me just say, I love you <3

    -Snubs

I love my pink DS.  It’s a nice lil toy :)  Specially since Darren got me that mod chip.  I beat Cooking Mama last night.  Not hard.  I think that game was made for 2 year olds.  This new game I started to play- Dragon Quest Heroes- is really strange.  I play a character that is a blob.  It’s very weird!

I bought my graduation announcements yesterday.  This is it, I’m really graduating in 2 months.  It finally occured to me that it’s really going to happen!

  • Been Gone for a While…

I know I was kinda gone since last week.  Darren came to visit, so I kind of forgot about the internet…  if that’s possible.  Do you ever find yourself doing something online for so long that you lose track of time?  I can end up spending 6, 7 hoursMmm… Tempest online in one sitting without even knowing it.  Geeeez!

To my fellow Springfieldians:  Have you ever visited 1984?  It’s this amazing 80’s arcade with all these original old arcade systems that still work!  You pay $5 cash at the door and play for as long as you want.  They have snackey snackey’s and sodas, and you can buy cute lil pins and whatnot.  If you get the high score you get a free pass!

  • Let’s Join a Social Network

What is your social network of choice?  Mine would have to be facebook.  I’m not really a big fan of the news feed or having to approve each friend or event one at a time, but other than that Facebook is basically kick ass.  I think my sister would choose Myspace…  That seems to be the big thing among 5 year olds.  Once upon a time, I turned off Ad Block for Firefox and went to Myspace.  It was a nightmare.  There is a new site still in beta for gamers called Pwned.  But it’s more like a myspace network for 17 year olds from myspace who play nintendo.  And then there’s Twitter, Bebo, Hi5, Pownce, and Friendster… but I only know about 2 people who use any of those…

Back to my question:  There are so many social networking sites on the net now…  Do you use any of them?

  • Snow

I am so sick of the bad weather in Missouri… It’s March 4th, and by now we should be having really nice weather. Spring Break is just weeks away. Two days ago, we had 78 degree F weather. Today, it’s 30 degrees. I’m tired of it! I’m tired of school being cancelled because of the snow. I probably sound crazy, but I really hate school being cancelled once a week because of the weather around here. When I lived in Alaska, we had four feet of snow, and we toughed it out. I walked my little kid ass to school, in the snow that went above my head. If Alaska can do it, I think we can too. You know, I’m paying MSU to take these classes, my family has given them a lot of money to put me through education. The MSU website says the roads are bad… they look pretty damn fine to me.

Maybe I’m just pissed off because I want to graduate on May 16, and not have the school decide to tack on an extra week of classes. Maybe I want to graduate on May 16, so I can actually attend my graduation, and my little sister’s graduation one week after that. Maybe I’m pissed off because I stay up late studying for a test last night, that is now postponed til next Tuesday. And now I have a test to study for over the weekend, while my boyfriend will be here visiting, instead of getting it done with this week.

Oh wait- MAYBE I’m ticked because although Missouri State University cancelled classes because THE ROADS ARE BAD, the DID NOT close the Plaster Student Union, because kids still need their food! Maybe thats why!? I still have to drive my little Honda Civic up to the school and park it in one of the parking lots that have not been shoveled, so I can go to work in the Student Union. And of course, Thomas, the manager of the PSU, INSISTS Domino’s stay open until 11pm, giving my car enough time to get snow shoveled all around it, making my time tonight even harder to get out of a parking lot.

Odsc02298.JPGr maybe I’m just annoyed because I just drove up to the school, to find barely a sole around there.

So Missouri State University- If you decide to cancel school, please do me a favour and post this information early in the morning or the night before… NOT AT 11AM When I have a class at 1230!

Does this weather look bad to you? It looks quite fun to me.
