tech reviews, anime news, and teh life of snubs
14 May
I’m graduating college on Friday, and the closer it gets, the more I keep thinking about the past four years.
So much has changed.
I’m a completely different person than I was four years ago. I’ve learned how to protect myself from theiving roommates, I’ve learned that the internet is full of fraud, and I’ve learned that I LOVE technology. Of course, I knew this to begin with, but over the past four years I’m learning much more about myself than I’d ever thought possible. I’ve learned that I have more friends online than I do in real life. TV is a black hole that turns you into a potato, while IPTV gives you so much knowledge and creativity.
As I graduate my four years of college, I’ve started thinking to myself, ‘did I do everything I wanted to?’ Definetly not. I worked my ass off straight through. I’ve become a solid assistant manager at my job that I just quit (Cuz i’m moving!!), and I’ve learned that I love hiring and training! I wish I would’ve gotten the chance to meet people, join clubs, go to more events…
My major was a joke. Really! When I was a freshmen, I was pushed into graduating in four years to help me from being in debt after graduation. I think choosing a major your freshmen year is too soon. I was young, I had no clue what I wanted to do, and I don’t think I chose the right major. Sadly, I was four years too late.
So now I’m considering maybe taking a year off to save up, and go back to school in something that I love. Or maybe I’ll just become a famous IPTV star and live off the income. LOL
I want to learn more about computers. I want to help people build their computers. I want to test video games and do reviews. I want a job surrounded by tech. I know how weird it is for a girl to say that but, you know what? I don’t care what other people think of me. I am so perfectly happy when I’m playing a game or working on something tech related that I can’t imagine doing anything else as a career.
When I was in high school, I wanted to become an actress. I still have that dream. Now, I want to geek out. So whats the solution to this? Who knows? It’s never too late to figure it all out.
Life; It’s so complicated.

First off, I want to congratulate you on the upcoming graduation.
I’m sorry you’re not happy with the major you chose. People change, interests change, and sometimes people just aren’t sure of anything. Don’t think of it as you being four years too late to pursue what you want to do; think of it as having taken four years to discover what knowledge and career path will make you truly happy. Looking at it that way, I think it will be easier for you to strive towards what you really want to do. And the best part is that you now have a clear understanding of what you want.
And I don’t mean to put you, or Darren, or anyone else off by this (it’s my personal opinion), but if you’re in IPTV for the money, you’re in the wrong field; my definition of IPTV is all about spreading information, sharing what you know, or using your talents in benefit to mankind, not looking for some network TV station to pick you up so you rake in the big money. The actress dream could still be a reality - perhaps you’ll come up with some award-winning IPTV drama? (Your options are still open wide!)
Good luck!
The solution is obvious - start your own online web series about gamer girls. Even if you have no script writing ability you’ll still get a horde of 12 year old fan boys to purchase merchandise off you!
Shannon I know you know what I’m about to say. All through high school they are telling you that you should find something that you want to major in and choose classes and shit based around that or classes that will help you reach that major.
What I’ve been wanting to major in has changed quite a few times. I wanted major in video games and create 3d objects and such. Then I wanted to do animation. And now the most drastic change from video games is that I want to be a Marine Biologist.
Im fairly sure my major may change again but it may not.
Anyway Britt, Mom, and I are all gonna be there for your graduation =] Cant wait
If you haven’t seen/listened to this I highly suggest it: http://www.neticons.net/music_life/
It’s a flash movie done by the guys who did South Park using audio from the late Alan Watts (a sort of buddhism/zen guy if you will).
Very moving, and pretty applicable to what you’re feeling.
