I just toured the campus today for the first time, I'm transferring in as a Junior this fall. (Incidentally, I also drove through some ridiculous wind and a cataclysmic downpour while hearing on the radio that there was an apparent tornado on radar on I-60 EXACTLY where I was). As a Springfield-er and MSU-er yourself, what do I need to know about the town?
