Interesting Republican E-mail
I just received this email from someone in my distant family, and it’s pretty obvious they don’t support Barack Obama like I do. My suspisions lead me to beleive they don’t support him because he’s black… but that’s just my suspision. I’d like to share this with you, because whether they like it or not, it actually had some positives in there for a democrat like me.
Read on if you wish, but if you don’t agree, please don’t flame. I’m making an opinion here.
We are witnessing a political phenomenon with Barack Obamaof rare magnitude. His speeches have inspired millions and yet most of his followers have no idea of what he stands for except platitudes of ‘Change’ or that he says he will be a ‘Uniter’. The power of speech from a charismatic person truly can be a powerful thing. Certainly Billy Graham had charisma and both his manner of speech and particularly the content changed millions. On the extreme other hand, the charisma of Adolph Hitler inspired millions and the results were catastrophic. Barack Obama certainly is no Hitler or a Billy Graham, but for many Americans out there feeling just like a surfer who might be ecstatic and euphoric while riding a tidal wave, the real story is what happens when it hits shore.
Just Some of What Defines Barack Obama:* He voted against banning partial birth abortion.
* He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.
* Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government.
* In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing.
* Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as minimum wage affair.
* Admitted marijuana and cocaine use in high school and in college.
* His religious convictions are very murky.
* He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il and Mahmoud Ahmad inejad.
* Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to have a conference with all Muslim nations.
* Opposed the Patriot Act.
* First bill he signed that was passed was campaign finance reform.
* Voted No on prohibiting law suits against gun manufacturers.
* Supports universal health-care.
* Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.
* Supports granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.
* Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.
* Voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform.
* Voted yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.
* Wants to make the minimum wage a ‘living wage’.
* Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes.
* Is a big believer in the separation of church and state.
* Opposed to any efforts to Priva tize Social Security and instead supports increasing the amount of tax paid.
* He voted No on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax
* He voted No on repealing the ‘Death’ Tax
* He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax.
* Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded.
* He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today and that takes some doing.
If your political choices are consistent with Barack Obama’s and you think that his positions will bring America together or make it a better place, then you will probably enjoy the ride and not forward this Email. If you are like most Americans that after examining what he stands for, are truly not in line with his record, it would be prudent to get off the wave or better yet, never get on, before it comes on shore and undermines the very foundations of this great Country. We have limited time to save America or the Supreme Court as we know it. Inaction is action. If you agree this is important, pass it on.
WOW! Obama did maryjane in college? Who knew?! But my big question is, WHO DIDNT?! Honestly, everyone I know has tried it and didn’t keep using. Big freakin deal.
And I really appreciate a President saying he beleives chuch and state should be separate… Um.. Isn’t that written somewhere?
I dunno… and about this war thing. What are we doing over there? No wonder our economy is in the shit hole right now, we’re spending all our tax dollars on the big offices in dc and this crappy war. C’mon guys, come back home, there’s no reason for ya’ll to be over there anymore… I know a lot of guys over there who are sick of it ![]()
Maybe some of my readers dissagree, and thats great!! Comment! I’d love to hear a few words on the matter ![]()
But this is just how I feel. A guy who’s completely opposite of Bush might take the office, and I’d be happy to vote for him. Sure, a lot of people aren’t happy that he did some weed or went to a crappy chuch. Big deal. Don’t define a person by the chuch he does or doesn’t go to… Don’t define a person by whether or not they did drugs in college and high school… isn’t that the time you are finding yourself?
Ya know, America, maybe we can make this place a better place. I’d like to see a minimum wage that can be lived off of. I’d like to see a girl being able to make her own choices about pregnancy. I’d like to see a president try to bring peace by talkin’ about it.
But, obviously, that’s just my opinion.

no, the church and state separation is not written anywhere, it was made up by the supreme court, you won’t find it anywhere in the constitution, not intendend to be a flame, just a fact.

I agree with alot of what you say, shan. I don’t really care if a candidate did drugs in high school or college. Alot of very great people have done that. The most important part is that they DON’T use anymore. It’s just a part of growing up. I feel that our economy is at a point of disrepair at the moment, and a 7 year war-plan is a large part to blame. I don’t think our economy will get to where it was when Clinton was in office until another Democrat moves in and the troops move out. Won’t happen. Any rationally-minded person can realize that. “Hey, our economy is good when there’s no wars goin on!” WEIRD………..

I agree with you on the fact that this war stinks. And the lines (at least for me) are too cloudy. So much controversy surrounds this war, anything from why we went in to begin with to how American corporations are making billions on the lives or war torn citizens. But for me the big thing to remember is that we caused this mess, would it be right for us just to leave? We (as a people and a government) need to take personal responsibility for our actions and at least try to help fix it. I’m not saying we go in there and personally rebuild the whole country, but i think we should at a minimum set up a situation where the local governments can retake control over their constituents. Leaving before we should would just breed another dictatorship.
